Adult Dole Whip
Nothing makes me happier in Disneyland than eating a Dole Whip. A trip doesn’t count unless you do. Not only is the pineapple treat light and refreshing, but the Tiki Room is so nice after a morning bustling about the park. Now, during the world’s craziness, I could use that joy more than ever. With Disneyland rightfully closed though, I was left to recreate the magic at home.
And because I am just at home I decided to make it alcoholic!
Experience:
Dress up! I’ve always envied the girls who go into the parks wearing dresses and heels. Disneyland makes for a great photo drop, I just personally cannot handle the parks in anything but sneakers. At home, though, I can be just as adorable as I want. So I dressed up in my best tropical swag.
***The Dole Whip earrings are our own creation and can be purchased here.
Decor: Throw up some lights/plants.
Entertainment: Obviously you cannot people watch or go hop on Indiana Jones so to bring the Disney magic you’ll have to be a bit creative. I suggest watching one of the tropical movies like Moana or Lilo and Stitch. Or even just put on the Tiki Room music while you sit on your patio.
Recipe:
Note: I know Disney released theirs… But I didn’t like it! Dole whips should be dairy-free! Just like at the parks.
Ingredients:
- Coconut dairy-free ice cream ( I used Coconut Bliss’s Madagascar Vanilla Bean)
- Frozen Pineapple chunks
- Pineapple Juice
- Coconut Rum
- Optional: Cherry/strawberry/ fresh pineapple as garnish
Steps:
Throw the ice cream, two handfuls of pineapple chunks and pineapple juice into a blender and blend until the consistency is right. If it is dry add more juice! Add a few shots, depending on how large the batch is, of coconut rum into the blender.
Taste! Depending on the ice cream and alcohol you use the recipe will vary. So the most important part is tasting and adding more pineapple to cover the alcohol as necessary.
